JUMBO TAMROCK Nº1

After a few years working in the mine, a complete overhaul of the Tamrock Jumbo owned by the company has been carried out.

The intervention consisted of:

• Complete disassembly of the machine, separating all its components.
• Drilling turret
• Drilling arm
• Cab
• Front and rear frame
• Stabilizers
• Engine
• Hydraulic equipment
• Electrical equipment

Cleaning of the parts for inspection and subsequent analysis of the parts subject to repair. Structural parts such as the turret, drill arm, frame, stabilizers, are sandblasted to remove rust, paint and material remains for a proper repair.

The engine has been completely rebuilt and mounted on a test bench for testing and adjustment of the power and performance curves.

The air intake and exhaust have been repositioned for better performance.

In the transmission system, the gearbox and converter were first disassembled piece by piece to replace all damaged or worn components.

The same has been done with the differential axles, which have been completely disassembled and repaired.

The control cabin has been reconditioned, improving visibility, comfort, and operator safety. The entire electrical control system of the machine’s displacement has been reengineered to modernize the operation of the machine.

The most important modification was the replacement of the entire hydraulic system of the drilling and bolting part, which includes the entire front part of the machine. For this new system, a variable flow pump has been mounted and a hydraulic console where these new hydraulic components and all the controls for the movements of the drilling arm are mounted. Another important part of this modification, apart from modernizing it, has been to unify all the spare parts with the Jumbo Sandvik DS311D of our property too.

Complete rebuild of the drilling arm and bolting, all parts of the arm have been replaced with new components. All hydraulic cylinders of the Jumbo have been overhauled and checked, and if it has been necessary, the hydraulic seals have been replaced and/or new parts have been repaired and manufactured.

Once all the parts were repaired, the jumbo was repainted in its original colors.

With this “Overhaul” we have improved the safety of the operators, increased reliability, efficiency and productivity of the machine, by matching the hydraulic system with that our other tunneling Jumbo DS311, decreased the stock of spare parts and greater efficiency in finding solutions and possible repairs of the machine.
